Another Jumanji Post/ Basically Bethany Appreciation Post

I love the Bethany character sooo much! I love the new trend where just because a girl is popular doesn't mean she's awful (also see Spiderman). She is so self-aware and genuinely there for her friends, including Martha who she doesn't know/doesn't know well before detention and treats her rudely.
The only times she's even kinda bratty is obviously the phone thing, which is more her not caring about rules than being actually mean and when she says she's too pretty to help. However, she doesn't say she's too pretty and let them all get to work. Fridge also doesn't get to work but Martha only calls out Bethany and really, when asked who wouldn't agree they're too pretty to work?
My top two Bethany scenes are when she's actively cheering on Martha for kicking those guy's butts. "Yass Queen! You are my hero!" Bethany is such a good supportive friend. I really appreciate the girl love she shows in the film. That should be the norm and the example from all shows/movies geared at teens. I especially love that her being so sweet is not what you expect from the "popular girl" character. The second is obviously the using the "bathroom" scene because that is probably the best part of the whole movie.I did not think I would like that but Jack Black and the writers are amazing and it was hilarious. I've been lying in bed trying to fall asleep and then think of him/her saying "you have a little handle" and start laughing, waking up my poor hubby.
Bethany teaching Martha to flirt is obviously also great but I like her serious talk with Martha better, at least in terms of characterization. I also love, love, love when she saves Alex. Way to go Bethany! She is selfless and braver than all the other characters and is the one who is mosted judged in the beginning. I also misheard the line the first time as "I want all of us to come home", which I like a little better than the actual line and I think represents her character well.
She is such an amazing character and was an unexpected delight in a movie where I expected her character to just be a joke about the older generation's negative prejudices about teenager (especially teenage girls). Love her.
